Legio Mariae International Association Who is she that cometh forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon ,bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in battle array
The Legion of Mary (Latin: Legio Mariae) is an international association of members of the Roman Catholic Church who serve it on a voluntary basis.
It was founded in Dublin, as a Roman Catholic Marian Movement by the layman and civil servant Frank Duff.
The Legion of Mary is an Association of Catholics who, with the sanction of the Church and under the powerful leadership of the Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Mary Immaculate (who is, to Satan and his fallen allies, terrible as an army set in battle array), have formed themselves into a Legion for service in the warfare which is perpetually waged by the Church against the world and its evil powers.

LEGIONARIES
Legionaries hope to render themselves worthy of their great heavenly Queen by their loyalty, their virtues, and their courage. The Legion of Mary is therefore organised on the model of an army, principally on that of the army of ancient Rome, the terminology of which is also adopted. But the army and the arms of legionaries of Mary are not of this world.
The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation, under ecclesiastical guidance, in Mary’s and the Church’s work of crushing the head of the serpent and advancing the reign of Christ.
Today, active and auxiliary (praying) members make up a total of over 10 million members worldwide, making it the largest apostolic organisation of lay people in the Catholic Church.
Works include door-to-door evangelization, parishioner visitation, visitation of the sick or aged, Catholic education, visiting the newly baptized, visiting families, and meeting the other spiritual needs of the parish community.

MEETINGS
Legionaries are under the guidance of a spiritual director named by the Parish priest.
Members meet weekly for prayer, and members do two hours of work each week
in pairs and under the guidance of their spiritual director
Members follow strictly the guidance of the legions handbook.
